Good News? Bad News? Not sure.

Today's Wall Street Journal reports Swiss drug maker (isn't that an appropriate phrase) Novartis is researching Chinese medicine in search for new products. They've stepped up with a $100 million R&D center in Shanghai.

Such research should lend additional credibility to so-called alternative medicine (and it this case, Eastern medicine) and its ability to treat maladies. It could result in such treatments becoming more available and offered at lower prices.

But, as is being discovered with the organic movement, multinational corporate involvement isn't necessarily a good thing. Companies like Novartis could alter harvesting practices and the areas where these indigenous products are grown.

Big Pharma involved in alternative medicine? Sounds interesting.

However, the informed consumer already knows how effective the products of nature can be in aiding wellness. That's why I'm proud that Good Cause Wellness products contain so many natural ingredients and have contributed to the wellness of so many people.

Go Fish? No Thanks.

You'd have to live under a rock (or in the ocean) not to have heard about the health benefits of eating fish.

Like so many things, when there's an upside, there's also a downside. For fish, the downside is the risks of ingesting toxic substances when you're eating your fish.

The health benefits of fish are well researched and documented. Because fish are high in omega-3 fatty oils, eating fish can reduce chances of heart attacks and the overall risk of death.

Want to get the same benefits of fish without the worry about mercury levels or other toxic substances?

Try chia seed.

Chia Seeds have the highest known whole-food source of Omega 3 acids. These acids promote cardiovascular and mental health and benefit many body functions. Chia is also a great natural source of antioxidants, including chlorogenic acid, caffeic acid, myricetin, quercetin and flavonols.

Go to
  • Chia Seed
  • to order a 1.5 pound bag of chia for just $14.49. We sell a ton of it (literally), so it's always fresh.

    No More 3 PM Blues

I've been on a quest to find something to help me through the 3 pm energy lag. I've tried different combinations of diets, drinks and foods, but nothing seemed to help much. A good nap might work, but that's usually not an option.

When I started researching products for our new company, I read about Organic Nopal and started taking a capsule daily. The difference in my afternoon energy level is amazing. I've kept the same diet, sleep and exercise schedules, but I now get through the afternoons without a lull.

Nopal is an amazing nutrient. It's abundant here in the desert, where it's called prickly pear cactus. Research (and my personal experience) indicates in works to lower blood sugar, reduce cholesterol and provide essential amino acids. Some combination of these elements work magic for my afternoons.

I've sourced the highest quality Nopal for Good Cause Wellness to sell. Our Nopal Powder Capsules contain organic, freeze-dried Nopal powder and nothing else. No preservatives are added. It's Kosher-certified, preservative-free and contains no starch, sugar, corn, soy, wheat or dairy products.

New Product: Organic Granola with Chia Seed

When you look at the ingredients and nutritional profile of our new Organic Granola, it's remarkable what's included in this tasty product.

And, it's just as remarkable what is not in our granola.

Let's start with what's not in Good Cause Wellness 100% Organic Granola.

Sugar. Specifically, white table sugar. There's none in our granola. In fact, the only added sweetener is organic agave nectar. It's an ideal sweetener because of its low glycemic properties.

Now, let me tell you what is in our granola.

Chia seed is considered to be nature's perfect food. In fact, ours is the only organic granola with chia seed and agave nectar. Also in the granola are almonds, walnuts and pumpkin seeds which provide a variety of antioxidant benefits and essential fatty acids.

    There are two varieties:

Goji and Blueberry Mix Goji berries have a wide range of anti-aging benefits from energy enhancement to cardiovascular protection. Blueberries are recognized as a nutritional superfood. Here's more info: here's the link:

  • Two Cherry Organic Granola

  • Over the past two decades, I imagine I've tried hundreds of granolas, but I've never had one that offered this combination of superior, organic ingredients and outstanding taste. Take advantage of our low shipping (only $4.50 per order, regardless of size) and order a pound or two.

    Anti-Aging

I'm guessing not many of you read Vitamin Retailer on a regular, or irregular basis. Access to this publication is but one of the many lavish perks of operating an online retailer of supplements.

The latest issue arrived yesterday with a cover announcing "Anti-Aging: A Growing Category." Maybe that news is just reaching the mainstream, but it's not news to health conscious, middle-age baby boomers like me.

The contemplation of middle-age was a catalyst for starting Good Cause Wellness. In fact, one of the first products we developed was created specifically to help fight the effects of middle age. Our Antioxidant Defense System Purple drink mix is a great tasting, superior blend of nutrients of 19 fruit and vegetables. The formulation is designed specifically to strengthen your body's anti-aging defense system. For more info on this product, here's the link:

  • Like all the products we've developed, ADS Purple tastes great and is very easy to incorporate into your daily routine. I'm aware of the many benefits of supplements, but if it's a hassle to use and tastes awful, I'm not going to use it. Enjoy the simplicity of good health.
